Bump In The Night is a Chronicles of Darkness game and we will be drawing our game system as well as our inspiration for the stories we tell from that book. However, Bump In The Night is a bit different from other games, and other MU*s. We are looking to create a game that is exciting and fun for players. There will be elements of horror and gore, but also some comedy and some camp. Just because our characters are living in the darkness doesn't mean the players need be.
Supernatural - Monsters are real. They always have been, always will be. It's our job to pick ourselves up and kick some monster tail. There's danger, there's destruction, there's loss. And maybe along the way there some cool cars, classic rock, and pretty faces.
Fringe - While not a show about the supernatural, it covers the very essence of what is possible and plausible. Plus there are more than a few instances of monsters, both subtle and completely overt. Also, The Observers.
Sleepy Hollow - A time-displaced British soldier who served under Washington and a Small Town cop fight monsters and try and prevent the apocalypse.
The X-Files - There's more in this world than can be explained by modern science. There are things that people find and see that are simply beyond what all we know. Some of us choose to believe in the unbelievable, while others devote their life to explaining more, and pushing what humanity knows to the next level. We are a game full of Mulders and Scully's. Regardless who you are, it is your task to investigate, to explore, and to protect.
The Cabin In Woods - As a Chronicles of Darkness game, BITN will be utilizing the God Machine, in our own way. Staff has agreed this movie is about the best example of the very real power of the God Machine in the world. It is manipulating reality in very real, very mechanical ways, and it likely doesn't have the character's best interests in mind.
Tucker and Dale vs. Evil - Horror doesn't always have to invoke the gag reflex. We can have fun doing it. And this movie is a classic example of the monsters being a little closer to home than we had ever imagined. The evils in the world of darkness being far more real than we could have ever imagined.
Below are a collection of songs and music videos that we believe set the proper mood for playing BITN.
Ghost - Cirice - ***WARNING*** watch for the microphone screech at 5:40!
Nine Inch Nails - Came Back Haunted (Audio) - This song's music video contains a warning that it might trigger epilepsy. As such, I've put that video to the side, right here. Please click with caution.
